American artist and filmmaker Julian Schnabel is called a major figure in the Neo Expressionism movement during 1980s. Schnabel also playing an active part as a film director and a scripwriter. The film “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2006)” earned him the award for best director at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival, the Golden Globe for best director.
